Presentation works for us as a pillow to show and explain contents of some specific topic to an audience. As this is epoch of technology and computers, to create presentations in a professional way, presentation program Microsoft PowerPoint is used. Making your own template in PowerPoint enables you to make it once but use it over and over again. Some tips are here for you that will help you to create your own PowerPoint template. These tips will work for:
• PowerPoint 2002
• PowerPoint 2003
• PowerPoint 97
• PowerPoint 2000
Let’s start by opening file menu to create own template:
• Go in “File” menu to click on “New”. As you click on “New”, “New Presentation” task pane will emerge.
• Follow, View → Master → Slide Master. After reaching in slide master menu, follow Insert → New Tile Master Command. On left side, two slide previews will open in a pane. There will be a link between both slides. Upper preview will be for slide master and lower preview will be for title master. Elements that you will set within these masters will show up on all slides throughout your presentation.
• By following Slide Master → preview, will enable you to view your Slide Master in edit mode. Here you have to perform immediate action that is addition of a background to entire slide. By following instruction Format → Background, Background dialogue box will open. An arrow will appear while downward pointing, click on this arrow to choose desired colors for background of your template.
• To add a background to your template, it is not restriction that you can only use different colors but you can add an image as your template’s background. When you open “Fill Effects” dialogue box to fill colors, a Picture tab will appear. When you will click Picture tab, “Select Picture” button will appear. By clicking on “Select Picture button”, “Select Picture” pane will appear on screen. From here, navigate to location on your PC to select one of downloaded backgrounds. Select any .jpg image and press “Insert” button. By following OK→ Apply will display your image on background.
• To view Title Master in edit mode, click Title Master Preview in left pane. By keeping same orientation described above two steps, apply a background to your Title Master.
• Now it is moment to hoard your template as you have made a template that holds both Title and Slide Master. To save your template, follow File → Save As instruction. When “Save As” pane will open, choose right extension to save your template as Design Template (*.pot).
• Format → Slide Design will help you to set off your Slide Design task pane. Click on Color Schemes option on top of task pane. From here, you can apply an existing color scheme or can make new color scheme to apply on your template. If you want to edit or create a color scheme, follow “Edit Color Schemes” option that will be at bottom of task pane.
• By opening Edit Color Scheme dialogue box, colors of elements can be changed individually. You can apply your desired colors to each element of your template. When you are contented with your color selection, click “Apply” button to see the results. Don’t forget to resave your template after saving it once by File → Save or Ctrl + S instruction.
• Now it is time to amend text of your template to make it meaningful. Font sizes and styles can be altered according to your text requirements. You can resize text by clicking on Increase Font Size and Decrease Font Size buttons on Formatting toolbar.
• After deselecting all text, click Close Master View button in floating Slide Master Toolbar to go back in Normal View.
• After performing above described actions, resave your template again by pressing Ctrl + S. You have made successfully a template that can be used to make new and existing presentations.
