Getting started with your master is thesis?
And all of your research work is jumbled up here and there?
First things first, organizing data is of utmost importance
Any type of thesis requires a lot of patience and research work. In your research, you collect loads and loads of information from various sources. Textbooks, journals, statistics and facts, images and videos; all sort of information. But what if, when you start to write a history dissertation, you can not find a piece of information that is very vital to it? That is scary, is not it?
Organizing research material is important:
Importance of outline:
Before starting your thesis, you most probably will have to work on your outline. An outline is a brief description of your work, which includes all the key points only. It tells the main characteristics of your paper. So, when you are starting your outline, make sure that it is as detailed as possible. It should contain all the key points so that you do not miss any point when you start your paper.
File all your notes:
While doing your research, you must be making notes of every important thing. The subject itself is a very complex one. What makes it more difficult from others is that here you have to keep records of all the important dates. And you also have to take notes of all the important events and facts. Keep a file of those notes so that none of them goes missing at the last hour. And it is easier when you have all the notes assembled in a place together.
Once you have started your thesis, keep track of which note or book you have already used. Cast the used information (book, or a note) away so that you include information twice by mistake.
Collecting references for bibliography:
Are you forgetting that you have to prepare your bibliography at the end? Keep track of all the references you are using. Make photocopies, or take notes of all the books or journals that you are using. It is important that you don’t miss any reference in you bibliography.
The key to organizing all the information and notes in files and stacks of books is that you do not have to waste your precious time in searching for a mere piece of paper. You know where to look for it, and you are saved from the last minute tension. But this does not mean that you serve most of your time in arranging books and making files that you are left with very little time for you to write a history dissertation.
You can lose a lot of marks if you miss a reference in your paper. Each and every fact and date is important for it. So, organize your work and save yourself from the last minute searching.
