In high school our teachers would introduce the distinct career fields so that we can take an interest in something. Usually we would blow them off until our senior year when it is time to take the SATs and choose a college. By the time we leave college we begin the hunt for our dream jobs. The only way that we are able to get them is to show our future bosses that we have what they are looking for.

First impressions are everything! If you go to an interview wearing a mini skirt or a five o’clock shadow than they will hear the things you say. It doesn't matter if you are a genius and meet all of their demands. Numerous employers don’t wish someone who looks like they would walk off the street.

The apparel that you put on will speak a good deal to them and it can be the first thing that they observe about you. You can tell a lot about people by what they wear. Women need to wear a smart pantsuit or a skirt and blouse. Make a point that the colors are not too drastic (no hot pink!) and that it is age appropriate. They don’t need to be looking at your cleavage. Men should be wearing a suit and tie.

The hair should be combed straight and gelled if it would help. Men should groom their beards and mustaches and have absolutely no shadows anywhere on their face unless it is shaved and looks like you may be growing it out. Women must be careful about the amount of makeup that they put on. Too much will tell them that you are attempting too hard and not enough will make you appear drained or rundown.

Any resume or other credentials that you bring with you must be in a specific place that is simple to get to. Seek to purchase a leather portfolio or briefcase. This looks professional and you will find that it helps when at work.
