In my previous article, I explained on what a fat loss plateau is, and why it occurs. In this article, I am going to share with you five ways to break past your plateaus!

Your metabolism slows down as you experience steady fat loss in the past. This is because your body does not expend as much energy as it has in the past to maintain its current slimmer self!

If you do not reduce the amount of calories you take now, you will very quickly hit a plateau. The best way to prevent this from happening is to re-calculate your daily calorie requirements after you have lost 15 pounds of weight.

Most people do not notice the hidden calories they consume on a daily basis. Snacking and eating out at restaurants are common reasons for the existence of hidden calories. Many people snack when they are watching television programs, and before they know it, snack on multiple packs of potato chips or other junk foods. When you eat out, you do not know how much fats and oil they use to prepare your food. Take note of your snacking habits in particular, and you should find losing weight easier!

If your daily calorie intake level is within the acceptable range, but you still find yourself not losing any weight, it could be that your exercise intensity levels are too low. Increase the intensity of the exercises you perform each and every workout. You can do that by either reducing the rest time or increasing the number of repetitions you perform.

You may have heard of the cheat meal. Basically, it is a meal taken once in a while to let you take whatever you are craving, albeit in moderate amounts. Some people are very afraid of taking their cravings at all, but this only results in an even greater desire for these foods at a future date.

Did you know that other than keeping you happy, a cheat meal will also help to boost your metabolism rate! Studies have shown that taking a cheat meal once in a while can increase your metabolic rate by up to 10 per cent!

When you are in a constant calorie deficit and lose body fats, your leptin levels will fall, therefore causing your metabolic rate to decrease and your appetite to increase. Therefore, what you want to achieve is an increase in leptin levels. The best way to do so is to eliminate alcohol from your diet, reduce dietary fats intake and increase protein and carbohydrates intake. Take a cheat meal full of proteins and carbohydrates and you will enjoy the benefits brought by a higher level of leptin!
