Individuals in their twenties generally develop some seriously bad habits intentionally or unintentionally and that somehow hinder the fitness progress. According to the data, the people in their 20’s have a higher ratio of developing such activities as it is considered as one of the dilemmatic phases when one needs to find the college, look for work, adjust with a new lifestyle. It is a confusing time people as one transit into adulthood and finds it impossible to manage time in early stages and hence there are high chances of choosing the bad habits.
During the time which is filled with growth, fun and adventure one certainly develop few habits which later they realize are terrible and can have far negative consequences. Even some elder people tend to grab bad fitness habits due to carelessness towards the body and health issues.
How do bad habits develop?
All habits are basically the influence made by our environment to us and how we often respond to it. there are high chances of individuals in their 20’s to grab bad habits as they prefer to stick to their comfort zone, follow trends blindly without considering the consequences, daydreaming, comparing with others and running away from challenges etc. are considered as some of the major reason one get easily influenced with the bad habits. Getting into the world of bad habit is really easy for everyone, but realizing the mistake and reversing the process is a time-consuming process which requires certain determination, willpower, understanding, and passions.
In the case of fitness activities, the influence of bad habits can waste time, energy and money while leading to poor training with minimal or zero result. Here is the list of some of the bad habits one might be following without realizing that it can ruin the workout routine and may contribute to plateau.
a. Lack of sleep
One might wake up early in the morning to attend the workout session but it is recommended for every individual to have a sound sleep of at least eight hours. People generally have a habit of sleeping late at night and reduced sleep on a regular basis contributes to the feelings of tiredness, irritability, stress, and even depression in some cases. Moreover, insufficient sleep also increases the appetite of the individual which leads to unnecessary heavy workouts to burn the extra calories. There are chances of imbalance of stress hormones which can lead to further health issues including slow metabolism and more. One should make a time management and ensure they are having a sound sleep of eight hours in order to prevent health issues.
b. Poor nutrition and lifting much weight
Today most of the people intake simple carbs and processed foods as their meals which simply deteriorate the health condition and requires heavy workout. One must avoid consuming junk food on regular basis and rather should opt for proper nutrient and manage diet plans. Eating whole foods, such as vegetables, protein, fruits, and grains helps to improve muscle tone, growth, and strength of the individual while providing sufficient energy to carry out the daily activity with efficiency. Moreover, pushing yourself too hard with heavy weights and not giving the body enough time to recover can have an adverse effect on the body and may lead to fatigue or severe injuries.
In addition, practicing the same form without making any changes in the workout routine or implementing an improper form of exercise can lead to a plateau and one might not be able to show sufficient workout even while spending a good time on a workout. Hence, one must follow the provided instruction and try to implement good habits for a better and improved lifestyle.
