You know what you want out of life, right? You may quickly answer, “Of course!” but take a moment to really think about this. Can you write down exactly what it is you want? Most of us think we know, but when we sit down and try to write it down, we draw a blank. Others may know what they want in general terms, but have not thought through the details. For example, you may want to be happy, but what does that really mean? Do you mean you want to go about your day grinning from ear to ear? Or would a monogamous relationship make you happy? Maybe, having $5,000 in your savings account will make you happy. It’s important to know exactly what you want, in every detail.
Many people believe that whatever you ask of the universe will be answered. Assuming that this is true, you would think all your wishes would have come true by now. Maybe they have! If you put an incomplete wish into the universe, the universe will give you exactly what you asked for. On the other hand, if you were to spend a little bit of time to think about and enumerate what you want and send that into the universe, you may be surprised at what starts coming your way.
In practical terms, let’s talk about what goes into a well thought out “I Have” list. Why do I call it the “I Have” list? Because, the best way to attract something to you is to imagine that you already have it. You could say, “I want to have a job that makes me happy,” or you could say, “I have a job that makes me happy.” Which one sounds better to you? By saying that you already have something now, you are creating an imbalance in the universe. Sounds scary, doesn’t it? The universe is all about balance, and since what you have affirmed is not currently true, it will seek to make it true. The more you reaffirm this statement to yourself, the more the universe will attempt to balance itself.
So, whenever you want something in your life, imagine it as already being true in the present, and reaffirm this to yourself as often as possible. Next, we need to look at the level of detail you put in your “I Have” list. In the example above we affirmed that we had a job that made us happy. Imagine all of the ways that this could come to pass. You could get a new job, be transferred to another department, get a new boss, or simply begin to feel better about your job. All of these things could make you happier at work, so simply wanting to be happy at work might have a result other than what you may have expected. The same holds true with all of your wants. You have to be specific, to have a specific outcome.
Let’s look at some general guidelines for your “I Have” list:
1. Always try to keep it in the present tense. “I have”, instead of “I want to have”
2. You don’t have to start with “I have”. For example, you might start with “I am”
3. Make your list as detailed as possible. Think about what needs to happen in order for your desire to be fulfilled
4. Use wording that feels natural to you
5. Your list can be as long as you like
6. Read your list aloud once or twice daily.
7. Choose one item and meditate on it. You can use the item as your mantra.
8. Update your list regularly. You’ll be surprised how often your wants and desires change
Here’s a short sample list to get you started:
Money
1. I have enough money saved up to support my family for 6 months without a job
2. I have enough money to afford all of the necessities in my life
Relationship
1. I have a happy, loving relationship with my husband/wife
2. I have a girlfriend/boyfriend who is _________ (fill in the details of what you are looking for)
Health
1. I have perfect health
2. I have a great physique
Work
1. I have the perfect career doing _________ (fill in the blank)
2. I get along with all of my co-workers
Keep in mind that just by creating this list, everything on it won’t magically come true. You will have to work to make some of them happen. What this list will do is create possibilities for you to make these happen. This list will help you get motivated to do things you might not otherwise be motivated to do. Also, doors will open for you to allow your wants and desires to come true.
By creating this list and reading it every day, you are one step closer to manifesting your own, fulfilling reality. This list will also help you realize just what is truly important in your life. Soon, you’ll see how easy it is to have everything you really want in life.
