Name changes to adjust numerological profiles can have unforeseen consequences.

As part of my work, I maintain Numerology Answers, an on-line advice column for numerology-related questions. Many of the questions ask advice about name changes. Some ask advice after a hasty name change did not provide what they were looking for.

A name change will not erase nor expel what a person is born with. It can, however, introduce new aspects and enhance others.

The personality and inclinations represented by (i) the numbers represented by the letters of the name as first recorded at birth and (ii) the numbers of the birth date are, together, the life's foundational vibration.

A person's vibration changes as they experience and learn. A new name also changes the person's overall vibration.

Yet, the foundational vibration from which the life has been built and upon which it rests remains the same.

Picture a house being given a new color of paint, or being remodeled. The foundation upon which the house is built and upon which it rests is unchanged. In a similar way the foundation upon which a person's life has been built is not altered by changing the name or by life experience.

Some people want their name changed to make studies easier. Others, so their numerological profile resonates more with financial security. Still others to be seen in a certain way by their public, film actors for example. There may be as many different reasons as there are people who desire it.

If your reason has to do with enhancing your personality and talents, do pursue your quest to find out all you can about the possible effects of changing your name.

On the other hand, if your reason relates to compensating for a perceived lack of something within yourself, think long and hard before doing the name change. Be certain you are not thinking to avoid a responsibility by changing the name. Those responsibilities can not be avoided. They will kick back if you try.

It is prudent to consult a professional numerologist you trust before making a name change.

The numerologist will likely ask questions related to why you want the name changed. And only then discuss the ramifications of the various names you are considering. Complete numerology readings of each name may be compared for better understanding of the pros and cons of each.

A primary reason name changes work is that the previous name's vibrations are accepted for what they are, and embraced, before the new name goes into effect. The new name can then build on that solid foundation.

One of the reasons some name changes do not work is that aspects of the previous name are found unattractive or hated, parts of its vibrations avoided or negated. The new name is then built on a faulty foundation.

Let's take as an example someone with many 4s who abhors work. This person likes the free spirit idea of the 5 and chooses a name with no or few 4s but with many 5s.

The new name will not work as hoped, because a free spirit can not soar without a firm foundation from which to launch. The foundation will crumble, and the new name will lead the person into both the negative aspects of the 5 and the negative aspects of the 4. Not a pretty sight.

When seriously considering the idea of changing your name:

1. Determine why you want to change it. Is it to enhance your life or to compensate for a perceived lack?

2. Decide exactly what attributes you want to enhance or obtain.

Then, consult a professional numerologist you can trust before making the final decision about which name to assume or indeed whether or not to go ahead with it.

What can you positively absolutely not live without? Food? Water? Gas? Electricity? Create a list of absolute necessities and then create a budget. If you have any savings at all, you should be able to cut out non-essentials and survive for awhile as you search for a job. Try to de-stress yourself and not dwell on the fact. Create a powerful, hopeful list of things that you can accomplish easily and do them. Then you can start to feel happier. When you feel happier, employers won't sense your desperation, and will gladly hire you if you are capable. Also, one more thing: write down every single thing that you can possibly think of that are attributes for getting a job. Can you change a lightbulb? Can you perform CPR? Can you figure out how to put together a puzzle without prior instruction? These are qualities that most jobs require and yet nobody thinks to include them on their resumes. Good luck! I will pray that you attain success!
