Marijuana is all the rage with the kids these days. It is considered to be a drug that is much safer to have fun with than other drugs. Although we should really not get into the recreational purposes of marijuana, we cannot deny that there has been extensive research on how marijuana is great as a medicinal drug.
Many nations all over the world have legalized the use of medical marijuana now. It is considered to be safer than even opioids! A few of the health benefits we have come across include the following:

1. Relieving Symptoms of Anxiety and Stress

We had to bring this one up first. Pretty much everyone who has been living a socially sound life on this planet knows about the relaxing effects of marijuana.
Be warned though, the stress relief we get from marijuana is evident on very mild doses of the drug; you do not have to get high to feel relaxed. In fact, new research has indicated that even the mildest of highs can make the symptoms of anxiety more pronounced instead of relieved.

2. Pain Relief

Recently, there has been very convincing evidence on how medical marijuana is very useful as a painkiller. Many health professionals are planning to start using medical marijuana as a painkiller during chemotherapy and after surgeries.

3. Curing Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a dangerous eye disease that can rupture the optic nerve and make you blind. Much research has gone into figuring out that smoking marijuana actually relaxed the intraocular pressure on the eye which is what ruptures the optic nerve in the first place.

4. Improve Symptoms of Epilepsy

Marijuana contains compounds that are very effective in getting rid of seizures in epileptic patients. These compounds include tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is a cannabinoid.

5. Increases Efficiency of Hepatitis C treatment

Hepatitis is a very dangerous disease and what is actually more trying than the disease itself is the treatment. Only 29% of non-marijuana users diagnosed with Hepatitis C are able to finish their treatment because of the daunting side effects that follow.
But, new studies have shown that a whopping 89% of marijuana users are able to effectively finish their Hepatitis C treatment. This is because marijuana is great for relieving the side effects of the treatments, all the while making the treatment itself more effective as well.

6. Helps with Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Research nowadays has also shown that use of marijuana is great for optimizing the permeability of the gut, improving its function, and making the intestinal cells more tightly bound. You can thank the seizure relieving cannabinoids for this as well since these compounds interact with our gut cells to create this response.

7. Limit Spread of Cancer

Okay, so there is not too much research available now to support this, but it has been shown that, to some extent, use of marijuana is actually good for stopping cancer cells from metastasizing. We can only hope that this research has more evidence in the future since it can revolutionize cancer treatment as we know it.
